After narrowly missing the London Olympic Games, the talented boxer will head to Rio in August and we are behind him every step of the way!
Jason will compete in the heavyweight division (81kg-91kg).
Recently we sat down with Jason to talk about achieving this goal and what it means to him.
U: What does it mean to represent Australia at this level?
J: It is an absolute dream of mine to represent our great country at the biggest sporting event in the world.
U: What is your goal for the Olympics?
J: My goal at Rio is to win gold. I want to be the first boxer to win a gold medal for Australia.
U: How are you preparing for the Games?
J: I will be doing a training camp at the AIS for three weeks, from there I will go to the Gold Coast to train with other boxers for two weeks. We will then leave for the U.S. for three weeks to finalise our preparation, before flying into Brazil. It will be a tough training schedule, fitting in 15 training sessions a week.
U: What are you most looking forward to?
J: I’m most looking forward to competing at the Olympics. I think working out to fight will be an amazing experience and the atmosphere will be awesome! Just competing, wearing the ‘AUS’ on my back is awesome for me! I love representing Australia.
J: Staying focused for such a big event will be easy and I will just focus on the job at hand. At the end of the day we are there to compete and I will do whatever is necessary to give my absolute best in the ring. I will stay healthy with the help of my USANA supplements.
U: Are there any athletes you are hoping to meet at the games, what sport and why?
J: I’m not looking forward to meet any athlete in particular; I think I’ll enjoy meeting all the other athletes. It will be an honour to meet them all.
U: Will you get a chance to watch any other sports and if so what are you looking forward to seeing?
J: I’m hoping to get some other events. I will just look forward to watching any events the Aussies are in and cheering them on!
From everyone at USANA we wish Jason good luck and look forward to watching him in the ring!
