USANA Australia is excited to officially welcome Australia’s No.1 short track speed skater Andy Jung to Team USANA.

Andy recently moved to Australia from South Korea with his family in 2009. Andy felt it was necessary to join a sport to develop a closer connection to Australia’s society and culture. He quickly found a love for speed skating and his skill set grew rapidly. As his sporting journey developed, Andy was selected to compete at the 2013 World Cup Circuit. It was then when he was acknowledged for his impressive rise in the sport and was presented an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Annual Australian Ice Racing Awards Night, that he knew he had made the right choice.

Being a professional athlete takes persistence and determination and he believes staying focused on his goal usually happens during the off-peak season. “To be honest, during training or competition periods, there is really no time and energy to think about other things. It is actually the off-peak period when persistence and determination are really needed. In terms of those, my family and my coach have been supportive in many ways”, states Andy.

Sporting Achievements:

2013 Torino Canada World cup: 24th place in the 500m

2014 Australian Short Track Championship: 2nd place in 500m

2014 Montreal Canada ISU World cup: 18th place in 500m

2015 Nagoya Japan ISU World cup: 22nd place in 500m

2016 ISU Shanghai China Trophy: 9th place in 500m

2016 Salt Lake City USA Desert Classic Short Track: Overall Ranking – 10th
(500m: 9th, 1000m: 9th, 1500m: 14th, 1500m A: 5th)

2016 Calgary Canada ISU World cup: 18th place in 500m

2016 Shanghai ISU World cup: 14th place in 500m

2016 World Championship: 21st place in 500m

2017 World Short Track Championships – Overall Ranking – 12th

Moving forward, Andy’s ultimate goal is to win a medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

With strong enthusiasm Andy believes he is “very much honoured to be part of the USANA Team as an athlete. Every day is a new challenge for me and I can only go forward if I succeed to overcome myself from the day before. I feel so much support having USANA behind me, and with the help of USANA products, my dream has come a huge step closer to me.”

We wish him the best of luck for his future endeavours and once again want to give him a very warm welcome to Team USANA!
